Best Present

Thanks to all for the wonderful wishes on my 49th birthday yesterday. They were very much appreciated.
The last gift I received last night ... may have been the best one. It came in the form of a wrinkled piece of paper. A letter from Gordo. It touched my heart.
I will type out what it reads ... in case you can't see it clearly in the attached photo.
Some gifts are "priceless".
Love you daddy!

TO MY DARLING POOKER ANNIE
KNOWN TO MOST OF THE WORLD AS CORA - THE NAME OF HER FATHER'S FIRST CRUSH. A BEAUTIFUL VAMP IN A PICTURE ... AND THE NAME OF SEVERAL SUBSEQUENT AUTOMOBILES.
I LOVE MY CORA WHO IS MOSTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MY STILL BEING HERE AT AGE 82 ... BECAUSE SHE HAS SPENT HER 48TH YEAR BEING MY CAREGIVER.
THERE ARE'NT ENOUGH WORDS TO EXPRESS MY LOVE.
YOUR FATHER.

  1. Cora, I hope you had the wonderful birthday that you deserve. Your posts truly touch me and leave me misty-eyed and laughing at the same time. I was my Mom's caregiver for the last 5 years of her life - she had Alzheimer's. Cherish every moment. My Mom and I used to say that we were making memories. God bless you and your Dad.

  2. Cora,
I just shared your blog with my mom because she is considering having her parents move in with her... and I came across this post. What an amazing gift of thanks to receive for all that you do! I love your outlook on life with Gordo! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
