Have a " Hoppy" day!

I haven’t posted much since the “Evil Empire” won.  Nothing to do with that … it’s just that sometimes … no news … is good news.

Gordo has had a really great stretch. One that I try not to take for granted. His overall health has been good, mental state … pretty stable and as long as his nurse (Kim) and I hear him singing … life is pretty darn sweet!

We also had his pacemaker checked yesterday and after 10 plus years … that sucker still has 96% battery life left.

I’m thinking … Dad …  REALLY is The Energizer bunny!

Have a “Hoppy” day my friends!

Mr. James, Please Behave.

Dear Mr. LeBron James,
It’s been brought to my attention by my 83 year old father that your behavior in the final qtr. of game 2 … lacked grace. Miami was clearly going to beat the Spurs, but you continued to power your way on the court … instead of toning it done.
However Gordo realizes that your ego is the reason that your own hometown is unwelcoming to you.

Sincerely,
A concerned caregiver in Houston

LOL … no … not going to send it.

WOW! Dad does take his “Big ball” very seriously.

OK Spurs! Time to whoop up on the “ Evil Empire!”

Simple Things

I keep the AC low.
Some days Dad feels a little chilly.
Yesterday was one of those mornings … so I put another blanket over his legs.
After breakfast … I suggested that he have cookies in lieu of ice cream because he felt chilled.
He seriously says to me … “Not if you turn my space heater on while I eat it.” . I’m thinking that is ridiculous … but … said … “Gosh Dad why didn't I think of that?” … “Oh Pooker Annie … you can’t be expected to think of everything.”
However I had to giggle while watching him happily eat his Dulce de Leche in front of an electric heater.
Sometimes it is the simplest things that make us happy.

The Star Spangled Banner

Every morning I pop into dad’s room and ask if he slept well. Typically his response is … “Always” … but sometimes his mind gets very busy during the night … and he’ll tell me a dream or memory, etc. Today I asked my daily question and he said “Pooker Annie … I can’t remember the words to The Star Spangled Banner”.
OK … it’s 6:30am and I've barely had a cup of coffee … but being the amazing caregiver that I am … LOL … yep … I began to sing it … “Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light” … that’s all it took to jar those memory cells loose. So he and I belted out the rest of the song together.
Now … I ask you. How many folks sing our national anthem before 7:00am with their 83 year old dad?
Have a super day my friends!

Go Spurs Go!

Even though Gordo’s beloved Celtics did not make the finals this year … his disdain for “The Evil Empire” aka Miami Heat … keeps the old guy’s blood pumping.
No doubt that San Antonio better whoop up on Miami or have to deal with a crazy old man in Houston.
Go Spurs Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
