King Gordo is home!
He is very happy. The first thing he did was take out his teeth. LOL
Then ask for gloves ... so he could read his newspaper.
Back to our crazy sense of normalcy.
Thanks to all for the well wishes!

Self-Preservation
GORDO UPDATE.
He is still at the nursing facility receiving IV antibiotics;
while giving the staff grief over his required physical therapy. However he
does so in “Gordo” style … singing and talking basketball in an effort to
divert them from his exercises. LOL!
I personally have not seen him in days … as I have had a
ridiculous head cold. However … I have spoken with him on the phone. He seems
to be in great spirits. He tells me to take care of myself … “But for heaven
sake Pooker Annie … don’t come up here and get me sick”. LOL … He’s still very
much about self-preservation.
Have a super Thursday my friends!

Who's 83?
Dad was in a great mood when I arrived at the hospital
yesterday morning. I asked if anyone had come in to see him. He thinks for a
moment …then says … “Oh yes … the exercise lady (aka Physical therapist … I’m
sure), but I told her … no thank you. She tried to guilt me into walking around
and I asked her … who is 83 and who isn’t? Haven’t seen her since.”
OMG … guess he got out of Physical Therapy … LOL
Gordo was transferred last night to a skilled nursing
facility. Absolutely gorgeous!
Think he’s pretty happy!

Mental Rest
I left the hospital early yesterday so that I could get some mental rest and play with my new puppy ;). We even hid dad’s cell phone … so I could have some peace for a while. The hospital staff is awesome at Methodist … so I felt he’d be fine.
I was home for about 2 hours and my phone rang … I knew it was the hospital’s number and my heart sank. However … the voice on the other end was … “Pooker Annie … where’s my teeth glue? This sweet nurse is going to help me so I can eat”. “OK … Dad … put the nurse on the phone.” He then says … I can’t … she just left”. Now I’m feeling really frustrated … “She left? … She just helped you call me!”
I told Gordo to hang up and I was calling the nurse’s station. Typically I am very nice and rational … but ... I called and read them the riot act.
Called dad back in 5 minutes and he answered his hospital land line. “Pooker Annie all is well. Another wonderful young lady just put my teeth in … so you can relax. Sl...eep tight and don’t let he bed bugs bite”. Then he happily hangs up.
OK … got that problem solved.
Here’s the clincher … What I know now, but did not know then was … my cell phone # is written on a board in his room in case someone needs to get a hold of me. He persuaded the lady who delivers the dinner trays to call me (he thinks everyone is a nurse). She left the room to find a nurse.
I owe someone a HUGE apology.
Guess I really do need a mental rest. LOL

A Bit Heart Broken
Gordo is in the hospital. He has a serious UTI (urinary tract infection). He will be placed in a skilled nurse facility on Monday to try and control this infection through many IVs.
His spirits are pretty good.
However ... my heart is broken … as it would appear that he needs more help … then I can provide … long term.
Please just pray that he is happy and NEVER suffers. That’s all I want.
Love you all!

Total Recall
Yesterday Gordo handed me this piece of paper and states ... “ Pooker Annie … this is what I have. I read it and thought that he was acknowledging his memory loss.
Trying not to make a big deal out of it … I just said that I’d Google it.
Had to smile … as this is what I found …
Eidetic memory: Is the ability to recall images with vividness bordering on actual visual perception; total recall ; also called photographic memory.
Bittersweet … in that … he’s forgotten what he’s forgotten.
God love him!
